Short Course - Intermediate Welding

This course is for those who want to develop and further their skills in advanced welding practice with test plates. A prerequisite for the Welding Certification AS/NZS 2980:2007. Trainees are tutored in the requirements of the welding qualification AS/NZS 2980:2007 in Manual Metal Arc Welding (Arc) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (Mig).

Learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate the fillet break overs
  • Demonstrate butt welding of bevelled plates
  • Demonstrate destructive testing, bend tests and nick breaks and acid (etch) testing
  • Complete a simulated AS/NZS 2980/2007 test plate in the flat (down hand) and vertical up positions, for MIG and ARC (MMAW) welding
