Te Kakano is a flexible, fast-paced beginner-level Māori language course focused on enabling you to use Te Reo Māori at home or in the workplace. It combines basic speaking and writing with an understanding of the cultural context of Te Reo Māori.
Although it starts at a beginner level with elementary aspects of the Māori language, it progresses quickly into sentence structures and conversation skills for a range of setting, with the result being an enjoyable, fast-paced learning experience.
Te Kakano can be studied through mixed mode delivery using online resources, five Saturday wananga and classes on Mondays and Wednesday, or through a mixture of these options to fit with your commitments as the course progresses. As this course is part of a programme, it requires a commitment to course work and may involve assessments.
Please note: You may be charged a portion of the Compulsory Student Services Fee that supports our services available to students. For full information on the Compulsory Student Services Fee, visit fees and finance.
