Gain the academic skills required for higher-level study in sports health or indigenous studies.

If you want to make culture and fitness part of your future, this six-month programme provides an excellent foundation by combining a focus on language and culture with an emphasis on fitness, nutrition, anatomy and coaching. Identity is a key aspect of the programme. You'll have opportunities to develop your understanding of Te Reo Māori and Gagana Samoa within a sports context and explore culture within coaching practice.

The skills you gain will set you up for long term academic success. You'll take core courses designed to equip you with fundamental academic, health and cultural skills, then a selection of courses specifically required to advance in your chosen pathway.

It also leads to the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation, which is required to enrol in a range of diploma and degree programmes in science, engineering, health, animal care, architecture, construction and Māori language and indigenous studies.
