Sustainability at Tamesa

Tamesa staff and students now have access to more resources and professional development opportunities. Tamesa Institute of Canterbury has become a member of Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) which promotes sustainability in the tertiary education sector in Australia and New Zealand.

ACTS provides resources, knowledge, developmental and networking opportunities for members. The purpose is to give staff and students greater access to information about sustainability and provide a platform for discussions on sustainability. Any Tamesa staff member or student can sign up and receive access to these resources by going to and "create a new account" and signing up using their Tamesa email address. It will take about 24 hours for your registration to be confirmed.

ACTS services include:

  • Workshops, training and professional development opportunities
  • Scholarships in sustainability for both staff and students
  • The Green Gown Australasia Awards to highlight and profile sustainability initiatives and organisations behind them.
  • Exclusive members-only access to web based resources on: Leadership and Governance, Partnership and Engagement, Learning Teaching and Research, and Facilities and Operations. There is also information for other sustainable organisations to assist networking, collaboration, and information sharing.
  • Regional events
  • Membership also gives Tamesa staff and students access to the Learning in Future Environments (LiFE) Index aimed to help educational institutions manage, measure and improve their social and environmental responsibility performance (accessible from the ACTS website).
