CPIT chefs scramble for a cause

CPIT chefs Hugh Wall and David Spice prepared savoury scrambled eggs for 77 residents at the Salvation Army Supportive Accommodation Service in Addington last Friday to celebrate World Egg Day.

“It’s an opportunity to give something back. We have very close ties with the community. Food and hospitality is about working together and making people happy,” CPIT Cookery Tutor, Hugh Wall says.

Major Dean Herring, Director at the Addington Supportive Accommodation service was excited to have top chefs prepare a meal in the Salvation Army kitchen.

“It’s a real bonus for us to have two chefs from CPIT and we’re really looking forward to seeing what can be done with the humble egg,” he said.

The eggs were donated by the New Zealand Egg Board as part of International Egg Week.

CPIT’s School of Food and Hospitality regularly contributes to the local community with chefs volunteering for charity events such as Supper Club and initiatives such as Kaumātua Kuisine.
