CPIT celebrates 30 year relationship with Japan

CPIT celebrated a 30 year relationship with Kyoto Sangyo University’s (KSU) Alumni Association last Friday by expanding a student exchange agreement to KSU’s Center of International Programmes. The move will give exchange students from CPIT more course options at KSU in Japan as well as streamlining the application process.

“The deepening of our relationship with KSU is exciting. The new agreement opens up a wider range of opportunities for our students to study at the University,” said Beth Knowles, Director of International at CPIT.

CPIT's Chief Executive receives a gift from President of the KSU Alumni Association Kazuo Imai.

CPIT’s International Division met with Mr Kazuo Imai, the President of the KSU Alumni Association and other KSU staff to mark the occasion. They toured CPIT’s Madras Street Campus and KSU were particularly impressed by the Language Self-Access Centre (LSAC) which provides a variety of resources for students to use to improve their English.

Mr Imai then hosted a celebration dinner to mark CPIT’s longest standing offshore relationship, inviting Chief Executive Kay Giles and CPIT staff.

“Our relationships with offshore partners are very valuable. KSU are like family and we can rely on each other to consistently send students between institutions,” Knowles said.

KSU also met with Japanese Language student Amy Couling who has been selected as the first CPIT exchange student to head to the university under the new agreement.  CPIT’s second year Japanese Language students have the opportunity to apply for an exchange as part of their programme. A total of five CPIT students will travel to different Japanese institutions in 2012.

“It is a great advantage for these students to experience the language in Japan and the new agreement with KSU means even more students will have to opportunity to do so,” Knowles said.

CPIT has student exchange partnerships with a range of international institutions in countries including Japan, China, Germany, Denmark and the USA. For more information on student exchanges our International Student Advisors.
