CPIT Aoraki Community Open Day in Timaru
Open day is an opportunity to learn about available courses, pathways and new careers.
The Arthur Street campus opens its doors to the public this Wednesday 27 January, 11am – 2pm, in its first Community Open Day since Aoraki Polytechnic joined forces with CPIT.
"The open day is a great opportunity for the public to see the course offerings provided by the new organisation," CPIT Aoraki Chief Executive Kay Giles said. While learning about the courses on offer, visitors can also enjoy a free BBQ and a social media competition where members of the public can take photographs with exotic backgrounds, bringing the concept of the selfie to a whole new level.
CPIT Aoraki's South Canterbury campuses offer targeted and flexible training, enabling learners to get started on careers within the primary industries, trades, business, hospitality, community services and tourism.
In addition, in 2016 the Timaru campus has introduced new programmes in business management, ICT and primary production management programmes. Places in youth pathway programmes such as Canterbury Tertiary College and Youth Guarantee have also increased, allowing more 15 to 19 year olds to start training for their careers.
Tutors will be on hand during the Community Open Day to discuss all of these study options and career paths. This expert advice along with tours of the facilities and information sessions, aims to leave participants well informed and excited about the future.
"These events are designed to help people choose the study path and career that suits them. It is really about enabling people to create the lives they want for themselves and their families," Giles said.
Across Canterbury, CPIT Aoraki offers more than 150 qualifications in a wide range of areas. For more information visit www.cpit.ac.nz.
