Career Defining Trip for CPIT Broadcasting Students

CPIT broadcasting students left for Wellington today for what could be a career defining trip. The 22 students will have the chance to make invaluable industry s when they visit production houses and industry organisations such as Weta workshop and TVNZ.

Broadcasting’s Head of School CPIT Tony Simons decided it was a good time for students to take a research trip after their facilities were recently temporarily closed for one month for earthquake strengthening work.

Tutor Liz Smith had worked for the Good Morning show until the end of last year and she used her extensive industry s in Wellington to set up an itinerary that includes visits to Women in Film and Television, the NZ Film Commission, the NZ on Screen film archive, Roxy Cinema, a three-hour tour of TVNZ Avalon and the set of Good Morning during production. The students will be in Wellington for four days thanks to support from CPIT.

“They will be meeting some of the foremost industry people,” Liz said. “I think they will get an amazing taste of working in film and TV. It will be really inspiring for them.”
