AMP shares bonus with CPIT art student
An atmospheric photo of the Bridge of Remembrance taken by second year Visual Communication student Charlotte Sowman won the inaugural AMP Art Award last week.
Ross Falloon, the Southern Regional Manager of AMP, presented Charlotte with a cheque for $1000 at a special reception on Wednesday 25 July where he also announced that AMP would offer the award annually.
“Staff in the School of Art +Design look forward to having the chance to incentivise student excellence with the AMP Award every year, in conjunction with our ‘Contact Week’ of guest lectures and exhibitions,” CPIT School of Art + Design tutor Bruce Russell said.
The idea for the award came about after staff at the Christchurch office of AMP were awarded a bonus $5000 by head office for their excellent performance. “They made the decision to gift the money to community organisations in Christchurch responding to the earthquakes. As part of this they elected to offer a prize to an art student as an incentive to creative endeavour,” Bruce said.
“Our congratulations go out to Charlotte Sowman, winner of the inaugural AMP art Award, and our thanks go to the staff of AMP Insurance for their foresight and generosity in making this possible.”
